So far 2024 still isn’t going how I had planned. Publication is still eluding me for my nonfiction books. I’m still struggling to get motivated to write every day and feel stuck. I haven’t been able to get back into my normal routines.
I am hoping that the arrival of spring and bright lights will refuel my creative juices. However, I know I am not the only person struggling in 2024. Living in a fallen world is hard with all of its vanity, especially for God’s people.
Not only is inflation still high, evil and ungodliness are on the rise both across America and around the globe. The truth is things will only get worse in this world before they can ever get better. Regardless of who is in the White House or controls the governments of the world, we live in a fallen world.
The Word of God tells us that in the last days, things will be unbearable on earth (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 3:3-4.) The truth doesn’t always make us happy; unfortunately, in a fallen world truth will be terrible to hear and cause many to tremble.
As much as many people would like to think this world won’t last forever, the terrible truth is it is temporary and will one day pass away ( 2 Peter 3:10, Revelation 21:1.) Despite what some politicians and false teachers say, this evil world will not get better by some miracles.
The Bible is clear that God’s people are not immune from the hardships of this life and the last days will be terrible and not just because of wars (Matthew 24:9-13, Revelation 2:10.). If you are a Christian then, you know the Bible is 100% truth.
There is nothing we can do to avoid what God already ordained to happen, but He is our refuge in the trials of this life (Psalm 41:6, John 3:16-17.)
There will evil like in the days of Noah and God will destroy it again (Matthew 24:37-39.). These are the days the Apostle Paul predicted 2000 years ago.
Let me be clear truth is always Good, even if we don’t like it or it doesn’t feel good. God’s people will rebel against our Heavenly Father once again in pursuit of their selfish desires (1Timothy 4:1.) Why would anybody want to stay in this fallen world that is doomed?
The Bible is truth, even if we don’t like what it says because it doesn’t make us happy or give us warm fuzzies. We may not want to believe it, but the Bible is never wrong. It is in God we trust if we are believers, not a man or a party.
The Bible is clear that God’s people will reject truth in the last days; the lost have never accepted truth. God’s judgment is coming for both the saved and the lost. Our only hope is that our Savior, Jesus, promises to be with us in the trials of the last days (Matthew 28:20.)
The truth is, no man or party can save the country, much less the world. Anyone who claims they can is lying and not Christian. God alone is our only hope in these terrible times and the days to come.
I am sure most of us are hoping this year and the world will both get better on this side of Heaven; however, the Bible is clear that we cannot put our hopes into this world.
There is no need to put our hope into things of this world because this terrible place isn’t our home. It is quickly fading before our eyes. If we see the light, Heaven is our only hope and Jesus is the only way to get there and that is the truth.
As we celebrate Lent we are reminded to prepare for Easter, but also for the second coming of our Lord Jesus, our only hope. Jesus died to save us from this world and ourselves. God is with us in our trials.
True greatness for God’s people cannot be achieved in this world. The first coming of Jesus was the beginning of the end of this fallen world.
His second coming will be the end of this fallen world, no matter what mankind tries to do to save it. He is preparing a perfect world free of sin and pain for His people—that is our hope and it’s the terrible truth!
